Demolition work in the area of the new Winter Boulevard is continuing. Residents of 239 Mirzaga Aliyev Street are the newest victims of illegal demolition work -- the residential building is expected to collapse at any moment. One of the residents said: "We have not even taken our possessions from our flats. But Baku Executive Power has ordered that the building be taken down." They accused Zulfali Ismayilov, who led the demolition, of cruelty. Residents were insulted, and their possessions were taken out their apartments, they said. There was even an attempt to burn the building. "President Ilham Aliyev has set compensation at 1500 AZN per square meter. We cannot buy a flat in the center of the city with this money. Why should we move to Masazir settlement because somebody wants to build a hotel? We should have the right to decide the compensation, not the government. We will appeal to the European Court if they don't agree," said the residents.
