Today nearly 150 opposition members held a rally in front of the Baku Mayor’s Office, protesting against the violation of the right of assembly. The protest was organized by the Public Chamber opposition coalition group. The protesters gathered in Sabir garden and walked towards the Mayor’s Office, with slogans such as “Resign!”, “Freedom!”. The police stopped them near the Mayor’s office. Despite pressures, the protesters continued with the protest. The women and youth were treated roughly. The police forced the protesters back. A group of protesters went in the direction of the Fountain Square, where they encountered further harassment. The picket was held to protest against Baku mayor’s refusal to assign the Public Chamber group one of its requested rally locations.
