Members of the National Thought Center organized a march in Sahil garden on the occasion of the Republic Day. They carried pictures of the victims of the 1937 repression on their chests, and pictures of 26 Baku commissars under their feet. The police officers questioned the organizers about the aim of the action, and then allowed them to continue. They burned a picture of Shaumyan, one of the commissars, apparently to demonstrate the potential fate of anyone who threatens Azerbaijan's territorial integrity or sovereignty. They also proposed renaming Sahil garden, formerly named after the Baku commissars, after one of the 1937 victims.
