GENDER ISSUES DISCUSSED BY THE RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN AGGRESSION PUBLIC UNION
Select Category:

The Recognition of Armenian Aggression Public Union  held a meeting at
the International Media Center to speak about giving legal aid to
women going through divorce. The goal for the event was to raise
awareness about the problems married women often face in Azerbaijan,
draw the community’s attention to this issue, and raise awareness to
help women.
During the meeting, the attendees analyzed the difficulties faced by
girls who marry without  marriage contracts and then divorce, those
who marry too young, those who marry with marriage contracts signed by
a mullah, and especially women who marry Iranian citizens. The
attendees stressed that the situation of women in these situations is
very difficult.
Another problem on the rise in Azerbaijan, is the number of children
born before marriage. For example, in 2004, the number of children
born out of wedlock was more than 5500, but just in the first part of
2011, this figure has reached 25,000. It was noted that this problem
is caused by girls not knowing their rights.
At the end of the discussion, the Recognition of Armenian Aggression
presented its book on the issue of gender rights titled  Unfortunate
Women.
